What?

PLOT is a professional script development lab, promoted in a residential basis and creative community environment, where fiction feature film projects from all over the world will have the chance to broaden their narrative skills and enhance their creative voice.

High-end script experts provide guidance throughout the lab and challenge the participants with the goal of reaching their projects artistic and creative potential.

As of 2018, PLOT is happening as part of IndieLisboa Film Festival industry activities.

Who?

Writers, writers/directors, directors or producers from all over the world with a fiction feature film screenplay at an advanced stage of development. Applicants are expected to have professional experience in writing, directing or producing film. All scripts submitted must have at least one production company attached to the project and ideally some development funding in place. Focus in narrative and character driven films will be privileged as PLOT will apply efforts on exploring and discovering new ways for genre-based storytelling.

How?

Submission Fee: 10 USD (via FilmFreeway)

Participation Fee (for selected projects only): 650 EUR (1 person)

Accommodation between 26 – 30 April is included (in our partner Nest House Lisbon Hostel) and meals will be provided during the 3 days of the lab. A full accreditation for IndieLisboa Film Festival screenings and activities will also be provided to all selected PLOT participants. Travel costs not included.

Final deadline for submissions: 28th February 2018

A maximum of 10 projects will be selected to participate at PLOT 2018 and will receive guidance during the three-day residential basis workshop.

All submitted projects must include the following elements in its FilmFreeway project profile page, at the application moment:

- an updated CV for both writer/director and producer/production company;
- a project synopsis (1 page maximum);
- full script (fiction feature film only);
- note of intent (4 pages maximum) for both screenwriter/director and producer;
- audiovisual approach documents (moodboard, etc.);
- links to previous work.

All submissions must be made in English language (even if the film is not meant to be spoken in English language). Before submitting, please check our Rules & Terms.

This year’s edition features mentoring sessions by Jon Raymond – regular contributor to Kelly Reichardt and scriptwriter for films like Wendy and Lucy, Old Joy, Meek’s Cutoff or Night Moves – and the Spanish story-editor Ana Sanz Magallón (Estiu 1993, Els Nens Salvatges, Under the Stars).

The participants of the laboratory also have the opportunity to present the projects to a panel of decision makers of the international film scene, follow the program of the IndieLisboa festival and to participate in a Masterclass with the award-winning Argentine director Lucrecia Martel.

RULES & TERMS

PLOT – Professional Script Lab is an annual professional script development lab, promoted by Squatter Factory. More info about the yearly editions is announced on a regular basis.

As of 2018, PLOT is happening as part of IndieLisboa Film Festival industry activities.

For each selected project, 1 writer, director or producer will be invited for the whole residential basis lab and corresponding activities.

There is a participation fee for each selected project. This amount should be paid upon selection for PLOT – Professional Script Lab.

Free accommodation & food will be provided for selected projects, for the total duration of the lab. A full accreditation for IndieLisboa Film Festival screenings and activities will be provided to all selected PLOT participants. Travel costs are not included.

All selected projects should include PLOT and IndieLisboa logos in the credits of the produced films/projects that may result from PLOT – Professional Script Lab experience and expertise.
