Who We Are
Storytelling is the core of any culture. Stories are how traditions, ideas and experiences are shared and passed down from one generation to the next. Denton Black Film Festival is a platform for stories about black lives, black culture and black experiences to be shared, told and lived.

The Denton Black Film Festival creates a space where :
- a minority culture can be a majority experience.
- stories on the margins are given center stage.
- the black experience is valued, validated and celebrated.

Denton, a rapidly evolving arts and culture hotbed provides the perfect backdrop for DBFF on its trajectory to building community, celebrating culture, but most importantly, sharing stories.

- Celebrate the accomplishments of Black filmmakers including actors, producers, directors, and other industry professionals.
- Provide opportunities for new and developing Black filmmakers to present their work to the community.
- Enhance, promote, and shape positive images and role models for the Black community and the broader Denton community.
- Provide opportunities to network with professionals in the film-making industry.
- Enrich and build a strong culture of diversity in Denton.
- Provide opportunities for sponsors to establish a mutually beneficial relationships within Denton and the Black businesses and cultural community.
