The Cump Film Festival

We are the Cump Film Festival, an annual based student’s festival comprised of young
passionate film enthusiasts. Cump Film Festival is the first independent student’s film festival in
Kenya, that was founded mainly to facilitate working platforms for students and budding film
makers where they can interactively share ideas, network with seasoned film practitioners and
get equipped with both technical and business skills.

Our first edition was held at the Michael Joseph Centre from 13th to 16th June 2017, which saw
attendance of film students, budding film makers, seasoned film makers and audiences that
included film enthusiasts. We also managed to reach audiences from South Africa, Nigeria,
Germany, Iraq, London, France and Portugal who participated by submitting their films and we had a total of 890 submissions.

In addition to that, following last year's success, the Cump Film Festival has recently received an
official invite to the World Film Fair 2018 edition, that will be held in New York at the New York
Expo Center from 26th to 31st October 2018.

The World Film Fair also requested to partner with the Cump Film Festival and offered us free
submission spots; 20 short films and 1 feature film for content with the best African Stories
together with a marketing package at the fair and their website.

This year, we aim at holding a summit on October 12th under the theme REEL CONVERSATIONS
whose main intention is to bring together budding film makers together with stakeholders to talk
matters film making and the real issues concerning the film industry.
