This film by Iranian director Farhad Pakdel reflects on the intimate connections between today’s lives and the lives of those who have come before. From the present to the past, a young woman and her brother trace the history of their ancestors through traditional stone carving in Shiraz, Iran, in the center of the ancient Persian homeland. Their journey takes them to historic sites and monuments, including Persepolis and monuments to revered Iranian poets, as they pay homage to their father on the anniversary of his death.

The art of making the Lanzhou Waterwheel in China was all but lost in the 21st century, until Duan Yicun, a 20th-generation descendent of Duan Xu, a scholar of the Ming Dynasty, took it upon himself to study and learn the craft. Now 74 years old, Duan Yicun finds the waterwheel market chaotic and competitive. Looking to his apprentice and future generations to inherit the craft of waterwheel making, he is hopeful that the tradition will continue and that the quality standards of the Lanzhou Waterwheel will be upheld.

It captures an almost surreal moment in time as the past, present and future come together.

Charlie Awards Film Festival

The Charlie Awards Film Festival is open to any high-school students in Waterloo Region. We showcase the best in student films the last Thursday in April every year at the original Princess Cinema. During the day, all student films are viewed and feedback provided by a team of adjudicators who are professionals in the field. Then ten films move on to the second round at an evening showing that's open to the public. The top three films are awarded cash prizes at the end of the evening.

American Indian Film Festival

Tenkara Kid

For many of us, we work hard all year and then only get to spend our two weeks of vacation on fly fishing. We fly hundreds of miles to rivers that measure fish-per-mile in the thousands and have elusive new species to catch. We spend thousands of dollars on gear to maximize our precious time on the water. This film hearkens back to the time in our youth when our fishing gear was easily carried in one hand, when we measured our trips in steps, where each fish mattered and every species was relished.

It aimed to use cinematography to bring Africa to the attention of the Polish public. The 1st AfryKamera premiered in Warsaw and also ran in Krakow, Poznan, Lodz, Torun and Konin. The unbelievable media interest and good ticket sales during the first festival in 2006 confirmed our belief that Africa is a theme of immense interest to a growing number of people.

BuSho (Budapest Short) was established in the autumn of 2004 by a group of young Hungarian filmmakers and the first event successfully ran its course the following year. The festival became an international breakthrough in an exceptionally short period of time. We had plenty of festival screenings, selections of film academy's, conferences, exhibitions, film-, and all-art workshops in the program. Our main target group is the generation of developing young filmmakers but we are very delighted at every entry. This film celebration takes place in Budapest in the late summer of 2015.

Anti-Semitism is a natural phenomenon, the reverse side of one of the fundamental laws of the universe. This is how it is explained in Kabbalah. The film analyzes the growth of anti-Semitism in Nazi Germany, based on the prophecies of one of the greatest Kabbalists of the 20th century, Baal HaSulam. The plot is built around the tragic story of the sailing of the St. Louis steamship, nicknamed "The Floating of the Doomed."
